Parasound JC 2 BP Preamp
Many owners of Parasound's flagship JC 2 preamplifier have requested the ability to integrate it into their surround systems, and Parasound has now responded with the new JC 2 BP (BP standing for bypass). Parasound claims that the modified potentiometer board, new control software, and circuits which remove the volume control from the signal path do not compromise the JC 2's performance in any way.Continue reading Parasound JC 2 BP Preamp
Flexible 19-Inch E-Paper Will be Mass-Produced by LG
Samsung may've ditched the e-paper production business, but South Korean neighbor LG has throw its weight behind producing that 19-inch flexible e-paper we heard about a few months back. A 9.7-inch color e-paper screen is also in the works. More »
Even a Non-Gamer Would Struggle to Resist the Mag Gun Controller
Even as someone not very prone to gaming, I'm attracted to the idea of the Mag Gun controller. It works with multiple consoles, has logical controls, and looks like it'd make a first-person shooter the highlight of an afternoon. More »
Eagle Phone concept hopes to be adopted by LG

Designer Eugene Kim has come up with the Eagle Phone, where he hopes that this design will be picked up by the good people at LG as part of the LG American electronic design competition. To keep up with the times, it makes perfect sense for this conceptual phone to play a whole lot with touchscreen technology as it mimics the image of an eagle in flight when fully opened. According to Kim, not a single bit of the Eagle's surface will go to waste, and whenever it is folded, a tiny gap is created between the panels. A fully touchscreen phone from all angles? Sounds neat, but is it practical since you'll be touching something at all times when the handset is unlocked, right?

Samsung Galaxy Tab spotted in the wild
I’m sure there are always interesting things to see on commuter trains in Sydney, Australia. But a Samsung Galaxy Tab? That’s a rare spot indeed.
Is it me or are all these big tech firms taking their sweet time in getting their tablets out to the public? They’ve all announced their plans to enter the market by releasing tablet intended to go head-to-head with the Apple iPad, but actual working models are thin on the ground. To say the least.
However, one of these recently-announced products has now been spotted in the wild. On a commuter train in Sydney, Australia. Bizarrely.
Samsung rather quietly announced the Galaxy Tab in June. So quietly in fact that no one seemed exactly sure what it was set to be called. It seems those sources which mentioned the Galaxy Tab rather than the Galaxy Tape were the ones to listen to.
The rud specs of the Samsung Galaxy Tab are a 7-inch Super AMOLED flat-panel screen (although bigger versions will later be made available), Google Android OS, a 1.2 Ghz A8 processor, and 16GB of on-board memory expandable up to 48GB thanks to a MicroSD memory card slot.
And that all appears to be in order, if the Electronista video of a random “telco worker” testing the device in the wild reveals anything.
Granted it’s short, and the conversation doesn’t reveal much. But this does mean the Galaxy Tab exists and its development is far enough along that Samsung has released some into the wild for proper testing. The tester describes the device as “awesome,” and labels it as “very different” when compared to the iPad. Both of which are positive.
We clearly need to know about the Galaxy Tab before we can properly predict whether it will be a success or not. Pricing and the timing of its release (preferably before the iPad 2 is announced early next year) are going to be important factors. But this video suggests Samsung is heading along the right lines, and that Apple could soon have some serious competition.
